EXPRESSIVE SELF PORTRAIT
Project Description
Our student artists will be creating a self portrait that tells something about them. This is more of an expressive piece, meaning that realism and a realistic portrait may not be important to the artist. They should try to use their art to say something about themselves.
Students can use whatever materials or App they want to use to create this piece of Art as long as they can travel between home and school.
Student art should try and answer the following essential questions.
Essential Questions this art should answer
Who am I?
How do I want the world to see me?
How can I convey these ideas using artistic media/tools and personal expression.
Project outcomes and expectations
-Each artist creates a self portrait image of themselves
-It can be realistic, but needs to be expressive and say something about the artist
-The artist can use any materials they want to use, but should chose something that can be worked with at home and at school.
Thoughts and recommendations:
The materials, techniques and styles you choose are all important in telling the world what you want to express about your self.
Think about using colors or not using color. If you do use color, it can say a lot with the colors an artist chooses. Choose your colors wisely and with purpose.
Think about materials. Do you want to work digitally? photograph? drawing? painting? Why?
Think about style... Do you have a style of art of way of drawing that you would consider your style?
Of course there are so many more questions we could ask ourselves before we start to create, but this will hopefully get your mind heading in a direction.
Do your best to make choices that inspire you, not because you think it will be "easier." Easier isn't always better or faster. If you work on something you want to create it will actually be easier to continue and stay motivated.
Good luck and have fun creating!
