POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE SPACE DRAWINGS
This week, students return to the concept of Positive and Negative Space and using it in our Art. The only difference is that we are now going to incorporate these concepts in making some Art that goes further then tracing and coloring in Positive Space, Negative Space or both.
We will talk about the goals of this project in class this week, but I have included the work of 3 Artists in a slide show below. The artists are Ian Johnson (Jazz and musician drawings and paintings), Paul Thurlow (the BMX bike drawings), Tristan Eaton (the shark) and Leigh McCloskey (the circle and line drawings)

Positive/Negative Space Challenge
My challenge to you is to create a piece of Art inspired by the use of Positive and Negative Space similar to the ones shown above. Your art can be in whatever material you chose to use, but must use the concept of the space an object occupies, the space around it or both to make something interesting and inspiring.
Project Expectations and Requirements
-Students can use a printer, you can draw, you can paint, use markers, colored pencils, etc.
-The minimum size of your art is 8.5" x 11" and there is no maximum size.
-Students will have 2 weeks minimum to create 1 or more pieces of Art.
